The DT 990 is a pretty low end headphone so you can't expect too much from it. Beyerdynamic is always very bright and has lots of distortion, even on the higher end models. SexyBlowjob • 2 yr. ago. yeah, the distortion issue is too annoying. ItsmeWyndy • 2 yr. ago.
I think the X2hrs and the HD 560s are more neutral than DT 990 pro and maybe have a slightly wider sound stage. DT990 PRO feels like a more sturdy build quality, has less distortion at low volumes than X2hrs. It also feels less bulky than both in the head.
It's closer to a neutral bright headphone than V-shaped. I found that it addresses a lot of the weaknesses of the DT990s while improving on its strength like the great imaging and perceived detail. The 1990s are more sensitive than the 990 PROs too, so they don't need as much power even though they're both 250 ohms.
To be honest, I'd recommend the TYGR 300R or the dt880 instead. The dt990 and the dt770 have a very peculiar sound signature that you may or may not like (the dt990 especially, insanely harsh treble). Another option is the he-4xx, but for that one you probably could use an amp. RepresentativeEgg439. • 3 yr. ago.
Many gamers and streamers use open-back headphones like the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro. This is because open-back headphones prevent your ears from overheating and provide a more natural sound. That said, there are very few premium open-back headphones with a boom microphone for this niche.
. In terms of the typical head fi phones, I have owned the DT880, DT990, K701, M50, Creative Aurvana Live, XB700, DT770 Pro 80, DT770/600, ES7, and AD700. I have heard/borrowed/tested Senn HD280 Pros, XB500, Senn HD428, and others I can't even begin to remember. Call ME crazy, but the DT990 is my absolute favorite headphone.

DT 990 250 ohm are notably more difficult to drive than HD560S. HD560S tend to run well I'm pretty much anything. Not so for the 250 ohm DT 990s. I have no idea if your interface will run them okay. The other thing to know about the DT 990 is that they have a treble spike that some people find fatiguing in extended listening sessions.
I've decided they have to be opened (or semi-opened) and after hours of investigation I have two picks (Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro and AKG K240 MkII). In general I plan to spend most of the time on monitors, then some of the time on opened headphones and only a limited time on closed ones since closed ones are more fatiguing.
